There are so many fun things you can do with a Pinch Pot beyond the traditional little pot. One take on the pinch pot that all of your youngest students will love is the “Frog Pinch Pot.” In this lesson students will also have one of their first experiences with glaze, so limiting the colors is helpful for both the teacher and the student. Enjoy this quick and lighthearted lesson to teach pinching and pulling and basic slip and score  techniques in the art room.

  • I did this with my first graders last year! We made Claude Monet waterlilies during our Nature unit and every pond needs a frog! They turned out so cute! Have students use a q-tip to make the black eyes and get nice pupils, which really give them personalities, and a few students had the idea to rolled up their tongues into a spirl.
