Dr. Rachel Althof has over 15 years of experience teaching art and art education in a variety of settings, including undergraduate programs, graduate programs, urban public schools, a progressive independent school, museums and cultural institutions. Rachel earned a doctorate from Teachers College, Columbia University and a Bachelor of Art Education and Master of Arts from The Ohio State University. Rachel’s current interests are in educational leadership, critical pedagogy, contemporary art, digital media, photography, pre-service art teacher preparation, and controversy and censorship in art and education. Her studio background is in drawing, painting, and photography.
When not teaching, Rachel very much enjoys spending time with her family. She can also be found on the ski slopes, soccer pitch, or possibly exploring a reef underwater through SCUBA diving.
