As art teachers, many of us are visual learners. When trying to remember information, we might use colored pens, make small sketches, or doodle in the margins of our notes. Seeing something just helps us understand it better.
That’s why, today, I want to share an amazing collection of visual resources for your classroom: The Flipping the Art Room Pinterest Board.
This board was created by one of AOE’s instructors for Flipping the Art Room, Johanna Russell. In fact, Johanna is one of the experts that helped us create the course!
The Board
This Pinterest board is a growing collection of instructional videos created by art teachers that were either made or discovered during the course.
Here you will find concrete examples of HOW you might go about flipping different lessons as well as instructional and inspirational videos. Curious to see how an art teacher might break down the complex task of creating a tessellation? It’s here. Looking for some quick, new photography techniques to inspire your students? Those are here too. There is just so much to explore!
The Videos
Throughout the course, you’ll create and share at least three of your OWN flipped videos to use in your classroom! Check out these two amazing examples from two of our stellar students.
First, Jamie Miquelon created a series of videos to guide her students through a year-long flipped sketchbook experience. Jamie created this video for her Level 3 and Level 4 high school students. The Takeaway
As you can see, the possibilities for flipping are wide open. In addition, when thinking about flipping your classroom, don’t be afraid to use something that someone else has already created. You don’t always have time to reinvent the (color) wheel! So get going and share, swap, and swipe ideas to use in your classroom today!
