Recharging the Right Brain

Recharging

Credits: 3 Credits
PD Hours: 120 Hours
Length: 5 Weeks

Over the last few decades our economy has sought after certain individuals: the computer programmer, the number cruncher, the logical and linear, also known as the left-brained. These traits are very important, but as our economy shifts and changes, we are beginning to see the importance of the inventors, the empathizers, the teachers, the storytellers or the right-brained.

In this course, participants will learn from author Daniel Pink. They will identify the “6 Senses” of the right brain and learn specific strategies to develop these senses essential for professional success and personal fulfillment. Required Reading: A Whole New Mind: Why Right-Brainers will Rule the Future by Daniel H. Pink (ISBN: 9781594481710)

Notes from past participants:

I would recommend the class to a friend because the content was interesting. It was new to me. The class also gave me many tools based on brain based research, that will make my practice flow better.

- Angela R.

I felt this class was very beneficial to me as an art teacher. I helped me better understand how I think and how others think too. This class also challenged me to think outside of my normal routine and try some new things that could really reach my students. Sharing and visiting with other art teachers really inspired me because many times an art teacher feels the lone ranger in their field and this gave me an opportunity to hear how others think and what ideas they have. Our instructor was very helpful in her responses and kept the class moving and engaged with one another.

- Victoria C.

It was a great class, the book is very interesting and having the chance to share ideas with all type of art teachers was amazing!

- Maria U.
