Exploring the Art Museum

Art Museums are the center of the professional art world. As art educators, it can be easy for us to feel disconnected to what is going on in this world. Especially when distance separates us from a major art museum or we have no budget to take our students on trips there.

Fear no more- This course will take you to an online journey to major art museums all around the country and world and help you become familiar with resources available for students and educators through museum websites.  If we can’t tour in person, we can use technology to help us bring the museum to our students. In addition to investigating ground-breaking new technologies such as the Google Art Project.  This course will also provide teachers with the tools to facilitate conversations with students surrounding the art criticism process as it relates to understanding and analyzing a wide variety of art mediums in the classroom or the museum.
