Announcing Two New AOE Classes!

Today we are very excited to announce two brand new AOE Classes!  Based upon the past success of our online classes, and the demand for new and interesting topics, these two new classes were born.  AOE now offers 10 courses total, making us your one stop shop for Art Education PD.  Our #1 goal is to provide art teachers with professional development that meets their needs, and we feel these new classes really fit the bill.  Let us know what you think in the comments section below.

3 Credts – May 2012:  Over the last few decades our economy has sought after certain individuals:  the computer programmer, the number cruncher, the logical and linear, also known as the left-brained.  These traits are very important, but as our economy shifts and changes, we are beginning to see the importance of the inventors, the empathizers, the teachers, the storytellers or the right-brained.  In this course, participants will learn from author Daniel Pink.  They will identify the “6 Senses” of the right brain and learn specific strategies to develop these senses essential for professional success and personal fulfillment.

** We are thrilled to have the newest member of the AOE team teaching this class. We will introduce you to our new instructor, Heather Crockett, very soon! **

Required Reading:  A Whole New Mind: Why Right-Brainers will Rule the Future by Daniel H. Pink (ISBN: 9781594481710)

2 Credits- August 2012:  Managing hundreds of students each week in your art room requires you to have some customized classroom management tricks up your sleeve.  It’s an ongoing process: Just when you think you’ve mastered a strategy, the needs of your students change, and you find yourself starting over. In this class, students will review some of the most comprehensive and popular classroom management strategies being used globally today, as well as learn from author Michael Linsin’s book “Dream Class.”  They will identify their own key struggles with classroom management and upon completion of the class, will form their own comprehensive classroom management action plan that can be put to immediate use in the classroom. Finally get support from other art educators who know just what you are going through!

Required Text: Dream Class: How To Transform Any Group Of Students Into The Class You’ve Always Wanted by Michael Linsin (ISBN: 978-1889236339)
You can sign up for these and any of our other courses starting today by completing this simple 3 step process!

I was wondering if you would have any book that would speak specifically about the effect of working in 3D (the real thing…not the computer) changes the way kids learn?  I am convinced that it does but I can’t find any reference about that.  I studied first to be a sciences teacher in Belgium and when I moved to Canada, I started to develop 3D techniques because one of my son would not speak.  Thanks!

I don’t have any I can think of. You could post the idea on the community (above) and see what kind of response you get?
