Help Parents Promote Creativity!

A recent article in Parents Magazine caught my eye!

The “Parents Creativity Pledge” encourages parents to promote creativity in their kids by implementing some simple strategies. This would be a great resource to pass along to parents as you start the school year.  Download the pledge by clicking on the image below.  Hang it outside your art room and be sure to pass it along to parents.  I think there are some really great tips on here.

 

Right now our “Creativity in Crisis“ AOE Class is in full swing and no doubt this article will be at the forefront of our conversations this week!

    I saw this too and thought “Only 30 minutes of free play??? wth?” I really hope kids get more than 30 minutes per day. During the summer, free play was all day. During the school year, free play was for a couple hours each night (minus time for dinner and a short time of homework).

      This makes me wonder if 30 minutes is recommended for the average parent, then what are they getting now? None? Structured activities and homework all evening long with no breaks and no time to be a kid… Yes, 30 minutes is sad, but I do have a feeling it’s more then some kids even get.

    I like “let them be bored!” That is true.
