Lesson: Abstract Color Mix Paintings
Art Elements: Color
Art Skills: Color Mixing, Abstract Painting
Making Connections: Science
The following lesson comes from Bob Reeker. He is an amazing NAEA Leader and teaches art and technology in Lincoln, Nebraska. The lesson is very simple. each day, students add a layer of color by mixing primary colors to make secondary colors. The teacher will give a simple prompt each time, but each student decides how they will arrange their abstract painting. By the end of the painting all of the primary and secondary colors are represented.
