Score!

My family and I love to garage sale.  As an art teacher, my clothing gets painted or destroyed pretty quickly.  Although I love to stay up with the current trends, and do, my tricky little secret is to look like I spent a million bucks, but in reality only spent dollars! It’s pretty fun to see my co-workers reactions when I tell them my clothes are from a thrift sore or garage sale, they don’t even believe me!

Why a fashion post on an art blog? Well this isn’t a post about fashion, however it is a post about finding something on the cheap.  I was out searching for awesome finds for my fall teaching wardrobe, I came across this beauty for a mere two whole quarters:

A giant art palette! I painted over them with acrylic paints, and viola! The perfect addition to my art room.  To give you a feel for proportion, here is where I decided to position it on my built in shelving unit.

Whenever my sister and I find a great thing at a garage sale, we say “SCORE!”  This is my “SCORE” of the year for my classroom. Do you ever find things at yard sales or thrift scores for your classroom? What kinds of great “finds” have you found?
